Continuing to add new talent to their roster, Just Movement welcomes Eskape (SL) to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Slovenia, Eskape first emerged in 2021 with a contribution to ‘Purified Fragments’, a various artists EP series via Nora En Pure’s Purified Records. It proved to be an auspicious debut for the young phenom, as he was quickly tipped as a name to watch in the world of progressive and melodic house. Projects for 4AM Records and Enormous Chills would follow across the next calendar year, further solidifying the Slovak’s melodic sound. Now, following a remix for Addictive Sounds to begin the year, Eskape adds Just Movement to his resume with a two-track showcase entitled ‘Airlift/Breathe’.
Beginning with ‘Airlift’, Eskape flexes his free-thinking muscles with a creation that’s equally at home on a peak time dance floor or floating above a festival skyline. Punchy beats, trance-inducing melodies and panoramic overlays marry beautifully across the first movement, expertly building tension and emotion as the main break approaches. A euphoric shade is revealed during the interlude, as grandiose phrases rise against a backdrop of bubbly arps, before a thrilling drop sets the course for an uplifting finale.
Meanwhile, the companion piece ‘Breathe’ is an apt barometer of where Eskape’s headspace is at, as he lets plush kick drums lay the foundation for delicate melodies and buoyant percussion to carve a path into a poignant centrepiece. Serene and magnificent; choir-like vocal pads emerge across the interlude, further accentuating Eskape’s hopeful musicality and mature no-frills arrangement, which perfectly preludes a sunrise-style final movement to close out the release in style.
