The latest release from Just Movement welcomes Lio Q to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist has found a home on John OO Fleming's JOOF Recordings, Auditen Music and Bonzai Records. Now following a remix for Balkan Connection to begin the year, Lio Q debuts on Just Movement with 'Scendere / Ethera'.
Beginning with 'Scendere', Lio Q draws on his pure progressive roots with a groovy creation that will satisfy both new and old fans of the genre. Mounds of chunky bass power the foundation while rugged rhythms and a strong effects narrative fill in the framework. As the main break commences a ghostly vocal motif descends over a bed of wispy atmospherics and luminous pads, creating moments of cinematic emotion before smoothly transitioning into a driving finale.
The companion piece ‘Ethera’ finds Lio Q exploring a darker more esoteric side of his production repertoire. Tough and punchy from the outset, the groove opens up as afro-style drums and spacey sonics unite for a smooth percussive journey. Darker in tone, it’s rolling rhythms build in waves, producing hip swinging moments as layers of percussion drive the piece into the break. Uniquely captivating, a band of heady modulation highlights the centrepiece, before a buzzing build elevates the mood further into a spaced out conclusion. It rounds out two stunning creations from Lio Q which likely sit as his all time best work. A fabulous way to begin the year for the talented Argentinean who looks to break out in 2019
