Just Movement continues a strong start to the year by welcoming Govinda back to the label for a new single. Hailing from Argentina, Pablo Francisco Retamero aka Govinda has been pushing his unique style of House and Techno for over a decade. First as part of the Le Microkosmos duo which toured the globe playing at Creamfields with the likes of Boys Noize, Faithless, Simian Mobile Disco and Crystal Castles, to present day as he operates solo as Govinda. After first appearing on Just Movement in 2018 with ‘Low Red Moon’, the Buenos Aires resident has showcased his music on Balkan Connection, Movement Recordings, One Of A Kind and TRYBESof. Now following a single on Magnitude Recordings to begin the year, Govinda returns to Just Movement with ‘Novena’ alongside remixes from RIGOONI and Michael A. Beginning with the original mix Govinda explores the deeper side of his studio repertoire. Free and flowing from the outset, its spacious low end is perfectly contoured, providing momentous swing while hopeful atmospheres and buoyant rhythms fill in the framework. Choir-like pads marry emotive chord changes, eventually segueing into a beautifully constructed break. Muted instrumentation leaves much to the imagination, and what a powerful mood it is, lost amongst wispy atmospheres and phasing noise onwards to a groovy finale. Providing the first remix and making his label debut is RIGOONI. Hailing from São Paulo, Vinícius Souza aka RIGOONI has been rising out of Brazil’s burgeoning electronic music underground. An appearance on Nick Warren’s Balance compilation in 2019 set the stage for a string of impressive releases across 2020. 3rd Avenue, Higher States, Manual Music, meanwhile, The Soundgarden and more all played host to the Brazilian’s enchanting sound. Now making a welcome debut on Just Movement, RIGOONI provides a stunning take on ‘Novena’. Intricate and groovy, it’s a mesmerizing journey into the depths of organic house. Deeper than the original, its groovy framework is offset with fragmented vocals, effervescent effects and hopeful overlays. Rising atmospheres and creamy tones elevate mood leading into the main break, where the narrative shifts once again. Heartfelt and cinematic in equal measure, a delicate glow flows through the centrepiece, adding a uniquely meditative quality as the beats drop for a purring final movement. Rounding out the release and returning to the label for the final remix is Michael A. Coming off the best year of his career, 2020 saw the Belarus artist showcase his music on Cid Inc’s Replug Records, Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Proton Music, while continuing to earn support from progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J. Now getting 2021 underway in style, Michael delivers a powerful rendition of ‘Novena’. The groove gets reworked into something a bit more fluid, while a complement of cosmic arps, indistinct musicality and organic percussion fill in the framework. Tastefully melodic, the Belarus artist opts for a sleek yet powerful approach, building emotion as the melodies open up, perfectly setting up a charming break and hypnotic finale. A classy rework from Michael, rounding out a top shelf release for Just Movement who continue a strong start to 2021
