Just Movement continues a strong start to 2020 by presenting a heavy weight collaboration from Paul Angelo & Don Argento and Tash. The former sits as one of progressive music’s most formidable duos, earning the praise of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren while showcasing their music on Beat Boutique, Movement Recordings and Sound Avenue. Meanwhile, Greek artist and Movement label boss Tash is no stranger to high profile collaborations, working with the likes of Dousk in 2019 on the hit ‘Future Funk’. Now teaming up with his Movement Recordings artists Paul & Don, the trio present ‘Exapsis’ alongside a remix from Alex O’Rion. Beginning with the original mix, Paul, Don and Tash craft a punchy, dynamic groove which ultimately roots this uniquely cosmic storyboard. Dark bass tones and ethereal synths converge for tense moments as layers of finely tuned percussion and robust rhythms power the framework. Rising modulation heightens the senses as the main break approaches before melting down to a dramatic rumble. Written with a veteran’s savvy, the centrepiece is a testament to the years of experience this trio has, perfectly executed, a tasteful yet monumentally tense build sparks waves of anticipation before devilish stabs cue a rousing finale. The lone interpretation of ‘Exapsis’ is provided by Alex O’Rion who makes his label debut. In addition to appearances on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, the Dutch artist has also found a home on Nick Warren’s Hope Recordings and Cid Inc’s Replug Records. Alex lays claim to one of 2019’s best selling remixes with his interpretation of ‘Prescience‘ by Andre Sobota & Felipe Novaes. Released via Clubsonica Records the remix has enjoyed a three month long stay in Beatport’s Progressive House tracks chart, where it still sits at the time of the writing. Now presenting just his second production of the year Alex delivers an inspired twist on ‘Exapsis’. Otherworldly in nature, tough beats and crisp percussion anchor the journey as the piece flows through a series of dark stabs, pulsating rhythms and mind-bending effects. Continuing on an unpredictable storyboard, astral tones and devilish modulation highlight the first act, perfectly setting up an ethereal break. Adding further intrigue, a growling underbelly provides the foundation for Alex’s dystopian soundscapes, building to a granular sizzle before a rush of drums ignites a colossal crescendo and exhilarating final act.
